What works are coming up?

Revegetation works located along the Brisbane River commenced in October 2025.

Following the appointment of a Contractor, construction works are expected to begin early 2026, weather and site conditions permitting. Brisbane Sustainability Agency will continue to provide updates to the local community as the project progresses.

What does this mean for you?

During construction, parts of the park such as the playground, toilets and barbecue facilities will be closed and fenced off. There may also be minor construction noise and increased movement within park.

What future works will be happening at Graceville Riverside Parklands?

The Tennyson/Graceville–Creek Gateway is identified within the Oxley Creek Transformation Master Plan as a key project that aims to better connect the local neighbourhood with the Brisbane River and Oxley Creek.

What consultation has been undertaken?

Community engagement has remained central throughout the planning process. In 2019, feedback gathered during the Community Ideas Day and online survey informed the draft Precinct Plan, which was released in November 2020. A five-week engagement program followed, receiving 773 surveys and 28 formal submissions. Key themes included balancing new facilities with open green space, improving walking and cycling connections, enhancing shade and habitat through native planting, and expanding opportunities for inclusive water-based recreation.

The Precinct Plan, finalised in 2022, was developed through extensive collaboration with local residents, stakeholders, and park users. More than 250 people attended the Community Ideas Day, and hundreds more contributed through an online survey. Their ideas and feedback helped shape the future of the parklands, influencing everything from recreational features to environmental priorities.

This project is proudly funded by the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program in partnership with Brisbane Sustainability Agency and Greening Australia.
